My expensive rod is a g-loomis casting rod. Also have 2 browning boron casting rods, one was my dads, got mine in 82. Got a bunch of big box store rods too. I bought a bud Earhardt fishing stick (the name is probably wrong) at a flea market over in Arkansas for $25. 7’ baitcasting rod and the guides start on top but rolls around to the bottom. Looked it up online and they still make them and sell them for around $115, cool rod.

Thx Gary. Yeah, I've thought a lot about a St Croix. Just not sure if I can pull the trigger on $160. 😉

I just ordered a new Fenwick in Med/Heavy Fast. It is only 7’ but comes in at almost $100. I’ve found it at several outlets but ordered it from MidwayUSA. Right now I’m not sure that was the best option, as the first one showed up broke(shipping courtesy (USPS) so sent back and ordered another one. I got a text last night that it is now on it’s way back to me I hope from Honolulu Hawaii, I guess it needed a tour trip before it gets to me. Sorry, not your problem to worry about but still makes me laugh. Go with a Med/Heavy Fast, that should do All you want it to do.

I had similar experience with midway last month.
Good ole USPS broke a Loomis NRX casting rod
They made it right . Refunded my money
I was fortunate . Found and ordered another one from a place in central KY. Probably 100 miles away. .
That one made it in one piece. Thank goodness. I don’t think my heart would have survived a second one

That's the way I have to go and when fish yanks it off the back of the boat I don't have to have an expensive funeral for it

Hey Ruttinbuck
I also have a Bud Earnhardt fishing stick.
Got it in a trade with a guy a few years ago.
I swear I could take off the eyes and shoot pool with it. Really stout.
Back in the day it was a pretty sought after rod.

I think I remember that post Ben, and I’m glad you finally got your Rod intact. I’m just hoping after going from Midway to Honolulu and then back here to me in Oregon it doesn’t show up looking like a Pretzel. Even the Midway customer service gal told me she thought that might be abit of the long way around to get to me. 😁

Ben without looking at my fishing stick I think mine is a medium. What I think is cool about that rod is how the line guides wrap from top to bottom.

I haven’t looked at mine in a while. I’ll pull it out this weekend.
