Hi folks. Need some opinions from all you folks out there. I'm in the market for a new rod, and I'm planning to get a 7'-2" to pair with a 3000 spinning reel. I want something that will be ideal for inshore fishing on the NC coast, but I can also use it on lakes near home for largemouth bass. What are your thoughts on medium action vs. medium heavy, and fast or extra fast tip?

Ive Bought 2 nice rods for largemouth and snakeheads. 1st one shimano sellus 7'1" which runs about 50 bucks. Its a med- heavy fast action. 2nd is the abu garcia vengence 7' which also runs about 50 bucks. It also is a med-heavy fast action. I've got them both in baitcaster and spinning. Nice rods for the money.

Agree with Rob on medium/ heavy with fast action. As for brands I’m a big St Croix fan. Go with what suits you best for feel and price. Good luck on your search πŸ‘

Thx Gary. Yeah, I've thought a lot about a St Croix. Just not sure if I can pull the trigger on $160. πŸ˜‰

πŸ€ͺ I try to stay away from those websites. Yeah, it's tough to stretch a dollar when you need stuff to fish with, and equipment for the boat.
