What the title says, I keep eyeing up the Garmin's, but are they the best bang for the buck?

Price point under $400, prefer cheaper.

I just bought a Lucky portable from Amazon for 80 bucks to use on my pontoon inflatable. No idea if it's any good or not. I've never used one of any kind, so not sure what to expect. I will let you all know once I try it out.

Plumbob is another who yaks it up a lot.

I've looked at the Garmin, but what I don't like is the vertical screen, higher than it is long. To me that means info on the screen is only there for a short time. The Hook 4 Bullet is horizontal, wider than it is high. It seems like a better way to see details, for a longer time. If you notice, all the more expensive ones are setup that way. Just my 2cents.
