Hello everyone. I'm from Arizona and moved to Minnesota, it took me years to get interested in ice fishing and this year I have became addicted.. I started out pulling a sled with an old gas auger and my gear without any shelter, now I have everything I need including a Vexllar system.. I still am having trouble locating the crappies.. are they really that hard to find??? Lol please help with suggestions. Thank you.

Look on your vexilar the crappie will be off the bottom. Very small minnows are the best.

Drill and hole hop until you can locate a school. Keep your bait slightly above the fish and jig slowly.

I went out yesterday afternoon, I saw a lot of activity on the bottom, after I set up my shelter I caught several Perch, but didn't catch any Crappies.. I'm just not sure if there were Crappies in that location or if they just weren't biting.. I have been jigging slow. The fish follow the bait but don't bite..

You may want to to check out the videos that I posted on the “Little Bay de Noc” thread. It’s not the same areas that you may fish but you can glean a lot of great information from them. Good luck with your new ice 🧊 fishing adventures...

In the winter they are often suspended up high over the deeper " holes"

Thank you for your advice, I caught 5 crappies tonight, 1 sunfish and a pearch, I did exactly what you said by going slow.. I must have been scaring them off.
