Hi,
I live on lake norman NC. We catch nice catfish using tomatoes from our garden all summer long, works great.

I've lived on this earth for more than 76 years, and that's a new one on me.
Is that big boys or cherry??
Tomato? I will have to give it a try.

Learned at least one new thing today so my day is not wasted, Thank you!!
you woke me up , please explain how that works
I have heard of Orange slices working, but not tomatoes
Green tomato or Red.? I know towards the early fall they will have a belly full of aquatic weeds
Seems like anything now they are hungry and schooled up!
My garden it beside the water and my husband throws all the half rotten, bird pecked ones in all summer. I just get a ripe mid sized tomato put my hook through the top of the middle, near the stem and barely sticking out one side. Works every time and they are already use to being fed in the spot beside the garden. Catfish love ripe tomatoes, I usually try to find one that's a little rotten or busted open on the bottom half.
I have used bacon that was going bad to much success for catfish. Now.. tomatoes...and "belly full of weeds".... damned if those cats don't have the same taste as I do.... cravings for a BLT ! Wonder if a little mayo spread around...... Learnin' something new, daily !

Fixorfish I second that a friends nephew showed him a big bass he caught he was afraid his Mama would be mad. He had caught the 8# bass on a pork chop he had taken from the freezer. Fishing is like eating I'll try any thing at least once (well almost anything)
Going to try your tip tonight when we go night fishing. Thank you. I’ll let you know how it went !!!
Just put salt on it and they will eat anything somehow they can feel the salt in the water also salted pork fat back works great for crawfish and any shellfish traps. Stays on the hook a lot better than chicken livers. Keep on fishing.
Did you get a chance to try those tomatoes yet?
