I was wondering what kinds of fish eat shrimp the ones you buy in the store they are 21/25 count per pound do Stripers and Halibut like them they are frozen, but I would that them out and cut them in half an put them on hook, is this a bait that will get going results even they are for Human consumptions I am Fishing in the Bay Area waters by the Oakland Airport and under the San Francisco Bay Bridge, if it is good for Fishing would it work for anything else in a LAKE that has Trout, Catfish, Black Bass, Carp, it is expensive kind of Bait but if it is OK to use I can AFFORD IT! Raiderman: if you can afford it, go for it! I suspect that the bait at baitshops would be less expensive as the shrimp in a grocery has had more care and attention to get there and will have a higher price. Just Sayin...RJS

Shrimp is used in the delta for sturgeon for the most part and not to much for strippers. I always fish shrimp when fishing for sturgeon but not once have I ever cought a Catfish, Black Bass or Carp in the bay on shrimp. Those stripers tend to be fast bait stealers when it comes to shrimp and a better bait for stripers would be shad and they are much cheaper.

Catfish at night clams or chicken liver.

Carp hit almost anything that smells on the bottom of the bay

Black Bass Spinnerbaits and worms

Trout Power Bait

Good luck

I took a LB of Fresh uncooked shrimp on a boat last Thursday. It is what we used to fill all the limits. Rubber is not food. I added Shrimp to several lures to fill everyone's limit. Squid ( calamari ) is also very effective. Filleted fish is always effective too. Just try to keep skin on meat to keep it on hook. You can also tie the bait to hook so the fish can not get the bait without the hook.

Hook em and EAT em unless you gotta let em grow.

I use cocktail shrimp when fishing for catfish in the lakes around here. put a little salt on them and it will make them hold on the hook. good luck.

I have noticed that cultivated shrimp like tiger shrimp that are kinda translucent and tend toward blue do not get bit.. not even by forage fish like smelts or anchovies...or even perch which love shrimp...white opaque shrimp of any count have been my best bet...especially the smaller ones 50-60 count..I fish shrimp inshore, SoCal, surf, piers, bays, harbors and for Sheepshead on 1/2 day boats
