Split rings
PS , Get a pair of split ring pliers that match the sizes you're using, makes life much easier.

Right on Fred, lol. Almost impossible to put small ones on with the plyers.

Split rings. You can buy them round, or oval shaped, stainless wire, steel wire, copper wire, etc. You can buy different test strengths too. Lureparts online, barlows, etc sell them all day. Excellent advice from Fred. Invest in pliers too.

Split rings. I replaced all of the ones on my Dad's Bass lures along with the treble hooks back in October 2018 when hurricane Michael hit. He lives near the gulf and had 7 feet of saltwater come into his home. Someone else mentioned using small needle nose pliers. That is what I used. It made the job easier. Good luck.

I have split ring pliers but I must be doing it wrong because they do not make it any easier to replace rings.

Hey Howard, you have to match the size of the splitring pliers to the size of the rings. I have 2 or 3 sizes of pliers to match the rings. I'll post some pictures later.

Here are the 2 sizes I use most often. Sorry about the picture quality, phones don't take good closeups.

For freshwater sizes 00-5

For saltwater sizes 5-9
