I had to cut a bunch of braid off my 6000 spinning reel. Is it ok to tie more braid on to top off my reel or should I go down to the backing and keep the braid in one piece.

It should be fine to tie braid to braid. Not much difference than using a backing or tying on a leader.
The knot going through the guides would be the only possible issue, depending on how much line you are adding - it may or may not make a difference.
If you are doing it to not have to replace so much line, it should work.

No problem, I’ve had to do it plenty of times. I use a uni to uni knot atrium tag ends as close as I can.
Uni to uni knot. (Power Pro) I did it all the time on my charter boat knowing 100 to 300 lv. fish came aboard every summer. I never had a failure with up to 6 fishermen fishing 100+ days a year. Go for it.
The uni to uni knot in this application has never failed me on 6 lb braid on
up to 65 lb, with the knot never presenting a problem.
A blood knot is a good low profile knot for braid to braid.
I’ve done it using a double uni knot with no problems at all.
