Black Bass are all inviduals but they are forced to eat what either lives in or visits their domain. You can try a spook and take your chances, it will work sooner or later.
For better luck, capture, buy, or steal some large minnows, or other large bait-type fish that live in the same lake, and offer it in and around the lilly pads of the south Florida lakes. That is what the guides do and at betrween $450 an $500 for half day trip to do the same thing. Later in the spring and summer those monster bass will thank you for your generousity. Just Sayin...RJS
