Question about a stiff reel.

So my dad's had this reel, a Browning 512 graphite, since before I was born, so about 30 years. He never really used it, so it's been in storage in regular Phoenix AZ weather conditions since then. I tried bringing it out because I'm looking to get into fishing at my local park, but the reel is rather hard to turn. Watching YouTube videos of other reels, it looks like they can spin on their own rather easily and freely, but this one only spins with a good bit of effort.
I can't find much in the way of instructions for the reel, and don't know where I'd lube it, whether to use WD 40 or something else, if it'd be possible to make it spin easily.
Info or help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I think even the cheapest entry-level reel from your local store will be a more pleasant experience.
But if you’re dead set on using it rather than keep it as a keepsake, you’ll want real reel oil and grease. Oil for moving parts, grease for solid parts.
The only old reels really worth fixing up are higher quality stuff and Swedish Ambassadeurs. The potential lifespan of an Ambassadeur with proper maintenance is, scientist say, approximately one geological era.

Best bet would be to just buy a newer reel. If you absolutely want to use that one, try taking the spool off and see if there is any rust along the bearings. Normally older reels won’t be like a new reel in terms of having a smooth reel in.

It just needs to be lubricated, Google "Spinning reel maintenance"

Ok.....having same problem here.....inherited from some old friends some old reels and rods (bait casting-Quantum I310MG and Ryobi GM-40,.... spinning- Shimano 4000 and Abu Garcia SX-30,..... and fly casting- Berkley 510).....you guys just gave me an idea of refurbishing them.....I am using the Shimano and the Abu Garcia but I would like to use the others if I can make them "smooth casting"...so whats the trademark of the REEL degreaser and Oil?...a novice fisherman here....so please help and guide me....the proper way to refurbish these reels n rods ...while waiting for the Central California spring spawn....crappie season....Tnx Guys!

Dipstik Sir......are U sure that cleaning and de-greasing using WD-40..... will NOT bring out that "trigger" scent / smell to the fish?...I have read somewhere in this Digest Forum, that Gas Fumes (from our hands), Dishwashing Liquid, Hand Lotion, etc..... will trigger the fish olfactory functions to move or shy away from bait and fishing implements.....I hope U Sir have used the WD-40 before....Tnx for your input.
