As a one-time fireman, I certainly believe in first aid kits! Got one in the car, one in the boat, one in my bug-out bag, and so on. For the car and for the boat, don't forget that a bottle of clean water is a first aid item! It's kind of a good idea to wash the crud out of a wound before you bandage it!
A first aid kit is like insurance: You HOPE that it will be a waste of money!
Another item to carry is something capable of cutting a hook. I set a rod down once in front of my boat deck with a hook dangling and when my dog came out from under the deck the hook caught her in the ear. I was unable to get it out and had to wait until I got home to cut the hook and pull it out.
For sure, a pair of wire cutters belongs in the first aid kit in a boat! A hemostat, too!
