Crab and Shrimp Retrieval

Hey guys!
I had a quick question about crab retrieval. I have looked everywhere, but cant seem to find anything on stripping patterns for crabs. Is there a specific stripping pattern when it comes to crabs? Do I just let the crab sit on the bottom?
I live on the Gulf Coast, and most of my fishing that I have done since I've started fly fishing saltwater has been blindcasting. I know that it's not optimal, but I've been moderately successful at it so far. I just haven't been able to hook a fish on a crab fly.
Any advice would be helpful! Thx.

Mist if the people I've seen using crab flies would use short strips on the retrieve.
