Has anyone had any luck ice fishing at the Saq Quarries just SW of Chicago. Those are the lakes that are close to me. I will admit my luck has not been great but it's still fun to go out and catch small fish; to be honest much of the time nothing.
I went out this past weekend to check out ice and some folks were out. No one was catching anything even after 2 hours. I think that is about how long I was there for 2 hours.
I am hoping to go out on my first Ice Fishing adventure since high school. Many many moons ago.
Some things that suck and if anyone knows others would be great. I can get worms from Walmart or a local gas station but no one carries minnows. I think the closest to where I live is Henry's bait show. That is a hall as well. During the summer I was raising my own nightcrawlers because there are just no freaking bait shops near the SW side burbs of Chicago

Merry Christmas 2022. I have fish the quarry three times since October but not too much luck however, people are catching them and I saw three or four guys walking out with their fill of trout now is a ice fishing season time.
I would like to keep this post, active to all the fishermen here in cook county Illinois
Now that the owner of Henry's has retired and closed the business, there is nowhere to get minnows. I have been
kayak fishing in the Lemont quarries near The Forge. Hit or miss but still fun.
