Hi, I am new to this site and new to fishing. Just retired and moved Kingston OK next to Lake Texoma. I am learning about bass fishing and just bought a used G3 1860 (2015). Love to just drive the boat boat around the neck and points. I have been able to catch a few black bass last fall, but lately no luck. Will any one share notes on catching bass on Texoma in the winter? Or do I need to go for Stripper?

PeterC: Welcome to the Forum. I grew up a little further west and on the Texas side of Red River. We caught a lot of catfish in the river during spring flood stages.
I believe you are in an ideal spot to hammer the striped bass on in the middle of Texoma, and probably pretty deep. You will do better if you have a sonar for your boat to spot these schools. Last fall, I read where some guys from my hometown limited out in a little over 2 hours but they were fishing with a guide. I suggest also you fish with lures that will get down deep, like Bomber slabs, mr. Champs, or jigs. Their favorite food is shad and where ever the schools of shad go that is where the Stripers go and follow them. Just Sayin...RJS

Hi Robert, Yeah they catch Stripper year round. I would need a large boat to go out to the big water. It can be dangerous on Texoma when the white caps kick in. I have a 18 foot flat bottom G3 boat with a 90 hp. I stay close to the Necks and Points with the small boat.
