How clever, Karen Snitch?. You are the example of why the authorities get involved. Sounds like you would be angry and verbally abusive. Believe it or not, people are entitled to a opinion and they can call Police, Wildlife officers or handle situations on their own. Welcome to America.

I’m looking at your responses and you really don’t get it. Do you ? The devils advocate has been played before and it didn’t go over very well then. I see nothing of value in your responses. I’m glad you are where you are. Stay there. Because if I see someone breaking the law - I’m calling.
And - I don’t care who you are, what you do or how much money you have, you really need to look in the direction the future is going.

Your job is to report it, this man to man stuff is what potentially get's people killed. If they look reasonable, if your comfortable, talk to them but that is why F&G carry weapons, for the unruly and dangerous.

My wife's late father had reserved a cabin on Rock Creek Lake for a week in the fall for as long as she could remember, This is on the 395 corridor and the lakes are known for fattening up planters to two pound fat little footballs by the first year and about a pound or more a year thereafter. They have a stocking program that cycles breeders that run from about 5 to 12 pounds, so a lot of really nice fish come out of there.

Our routine was to get up early, go to our favorite spot, and be limited out by breakfast time. We get there this one morning and someone was at our spot, we're thinking no big deal the guy has three fish he'll have his limit in a few minutes. So he's using power bait or nightcrawlers, nice little two pound fish are swallowing his bait, he's ripping hooks out with pliers and throwing them back because he wants a stringer of bigger fish. We were getting more and more pissed off, this guy had close to a dozen or more great fish floating around dead or dying.

My wife's dad is a seriously easy going let it be sort of person, I'm not. I said that's it, he's done. Don was trying to tell me to let it go, my wife told him dad, let him go, that's the way Keith is, you aren't going to stop him. I walked up to the guy as he was ripping another fish, and I told him to pack his stuff up, it was time to go. He said he wasn't done, he had two more fish to go, I told him to get a couple of the dead fish at his feet if he wanted two more but go. He got pissed and started swearing, I told him I wasn't going to argue with him, he could go swimming while waiting for fish and game to get there if he refused to go, my wife was going to call if he had any objections.

The only thing Don said was that he worried about something like that getting physical or out of hand. I just said eh, I wasn't worried about that.

And by the way, the first thing we did was collect all the fish we could reach, it was over ten, so we had a very short fishing session. The fish from there are perhaps some of the best trout we've ever eaten. We were talking about going back, but it would be a bit too painful for my wife.

If you are too fearful to talk to a fellow man face to face, about what it is that concerns you, and would rather call men with guns to address your feelings and said concerns for you, maybe you should just mind your own business if you’re not able to deal with the possible repercussions. Especially if that person’s activities do not affect your life in any way shape or form.
The “future generations” and “the law is the law” argument is a cop-out, and quite cowardly in my opinion. For Me, I would much rather attempt to engage the person in a friendly manner , and possibly learn from each other. What are the current environmental mandates and why? If it’s some some old man using a cast net for baby shad to have bait to catch fish for dinner, and that person didn’t know it was not permitted, I’d simply make him aware of it and wish him a great day, and carry on with my day. Not call the authorities on him. Only miserable hateful people do that.

Do you know the reality of having a friendly talk with someone who obviously doesn't give a damn about the law?
Good luck with that one

It’s pretty simple really. Especially when it comes to recreational fishing. Sure. If i see a Japanese whaling trawler slaughtering pregnant humpbacks, or cutting off sharks fins and throwing them back in the water, yea, maybe i’ll call someone about it. Otherwise, i’m going to mind my own business and leave people alone, and wish everyone tight lines. Two 8 year old kids catching minnows by the creek side for their little aquarium for show and tell? nah. I’m not going say papers please! or call the game wardens. But that’s just me.
If someone is fishing out of regs, either have the balls to talk to them about it face to face man to man, and possibly learn from each other, or mind your own business and go about your day. No need to call men with guns to save you from your feelings, or your compliance and imaginary obligation of law to report others alleged violations. Don’t be a Stasi fisherman. Just enjoy the day ok Karen/Darren?

Oh, I agree. These IDIOTS already know they're breaking the law. So, when you challenge the IDIOT, that's when things go south. Call the LEO - that's why they're there...

I carry a gun EVERYWHERE I go - permitted, and so does my wife. But, I'll still call the LEO if I see someone breaking the law.

How is this better than having your wife call an F&G officer as all in your party plan for a later visit to this particular spot? Not to insult anyone, but bullets coming at my relations over what was initiated by me isn't a bragging point in any conversation.

A bit judgmental there aren't you?

It's what happened, I was set to ignore it up to a point but it got to where I couldn't...oh and a pertinent factor was there was no DFG, no cell service, that was a bluff meant to get the guy on his way without having to get physical.

You are right in that it did create a potential for retaliation, I will say I had gone to the parking area a hundred or so feet away to see what he was driving and take down his license number if we needed to turn him in later. We had a cabin in easy walking distance or I'd have worried about our own car.

There's times I see things I know I shouldn't say anything about, but there are things I cannot ignore. It's why I have a concealed weapon permit.
