I'm in Satellite Beach. The wind has stirred the water up so not much point in fishing right now (1/03).
BTW, why do folks like to reply with "I have no idea"? Does that add value to the conversation?
I fished Cocoa Beach near you last year. I was catching whiting on Fishbites. Others were using shrimp for pompano. The fish were running closer to shore in the surf than you might expect. One guy just flinging his cast net brought in a whiting and a pompano on two separate days. Try a net to catch some live bait. Smaller net to start with. They’re easier to control.

Yes, Fishbites on a pompano rig w/2 hooks. Often catch whiting two at a time.
If you want live bait, go to sand fleas.

It is also good to have the water temp in the 70* to 80* range for pompano. As the water temp drops this time of year they move farther south. They come back north in spring
Haven't been seeing pompano here 60 degree water isn't their thing. Been catching Whiteing during daylight hours, but once the sun sets there's nothing hitting.

BTW, I don’t see in any of the previous post where anyone replied with “I have no idea”. Could you please point that out for us. 🤷♂️🐟on
I used to fish the surf between Melbourne and Sebastian Inlet. Favorite bait was sand fleas. Lots of whiting. Some pompano. When the sea turtles are hatching, everything in the sea comes near shore.

Dude, you didn't read the first 3 replies, obviously. They may have each worded it differently, but they said it.
We still love'em, even though they keep telling us they're clueless from a 1000 miles away.... every day, for some..lol.
Well Dude, OBVIOUSLY you didn’t read my post saying that in the previous 3 reply’s where anyone replied with “I have no idea” What the OP Ajole saw was 3 polite fishermen welcoming him to the fishing stage and letting him know that they couldn’t be of help to him. You need to look again before you make such a comment,Dude
Dozer... Flyguy, dbed, and Fredfish, each post said no help or I don't know. Vernacular, or semantics if you prefer, aside, .... I am not making the distinction, how is it that you are ?
Ajole's post, with the question, was the fourth post, after the initial post to start the thread.
Are we not getting the SAME posts ?
