thought I'd interject a "fun" story for the end of the year on personal bests. Fishing a local bass pond (that also has some HUGE carp) I'm walking along the dike casting a rapala in front of me about 5' of the edge. catch six nice 1-2# bass. there are 3 guys fishing all the way at the far end. when I got about 50 yds away I swapped out my rapala for a circle hook and stuck a dead cricket on it. As I approached them they asked what the hell I was fishing with as they had been there for two hours without a hit. I showed them what I had on the end of my line and said "it's all about the presentation on todays menu" as I walked past them I put the rapala back on and caught two more fish about 70 yds by them so they couldn't see what I used Had a good chuckle with that one.

Yes, good one. I was having a good day catfishing. A couple of loud guys decided to cast over me. I was about done anyway. As I left with a stringer of catfish they asked what I was using.
I told them hotdogs stuffed with limburger cheese. Maybe it would work, but I laughed all night considering them trying to make that bait.

do you use a particular brand of hotdog? that can be really important in fishing for cats. I tell them we always use uncle Jeb's all natural. (doesn't exist)

Perfect. A nonexistent hotdog. I didn’t think of that. Actually for my prank they needed to find the ingredients. The smell, expense, and assembly was cracking me up.

Yes, even though fishermen had a reputation for truthfulness, I will provide the photographic proof of most of my personal best fish caught over my lifetime. In attempting to capture and copy these pictures, If I have been unable to transfer photos of the striped marlin, snook, and black bass even though I have them in my phone.

I forgot to include a personal best for Jack Crevalle, but I never liked them anyway, so never bothered to consider their size or take a picture.

These pictures are not especially good, or clear, but do provide some evidence of a fish of the description I’ve given where such a fish and I were in the same vicinity at the same time. Just Sayin…RJS

Yes, the photo in front of the Grady White is a snook I caught just offshore in Florida. My son and I were using a sebiki rig to catch some bait. Something broke off his sebiki rig. He said why don't you get another rod and put on a live bait and see if you can catch whatever it was that broke me off. The result was this snook. I tied on another live bait and caught another snook of equal size, it jumped and threw the hook.

The Peacock Bass was caught in the Negro River, Brazil. The lure in the Butterfly Bass is the lure I caught my PM. Just Sayin...RJS
