Question about fish finders (Garmin Striker 4)

I received a Garmin Striker 4 sonar system for Christmas and have been playing around with the settings and learning what it offers. I noticed that there was a setting for scroll speed and wondered; what is the best scroll speed to use? Should I match it with my boat speed? Would the fastest setting be best as it provides quicker and more real time feedback regarding what is under me at any given time? Does faster scroll speed affect battery life?

For me i leave it in auto if im moving. I put it in fast scroll when im stationary eg ice fishing, because i can track my bait better

I keep the scroll speed maxed out all the time, and if it has a ping speed adjustment,I keep that maxed out also.you get a sharper faster picture of what's going on. That's a great unit you got.

I just ordered Hummingbird Helix 5 Chirp GPS for my Jon boat. Reviews were great. Any of you guys had actual experience with this depth finder?

My Stryker 4 arrives Friday. My first electronics since I sold a boat 20 years ago. They’re SO much different than they were back then; hope I have it figured out by Spring! I’ll be following this thread over the next few days.

The Striker 4 is pretty straight forward. I think you’ll be happy with how easy it is to use.
