Ive never been saltwater fishing before and i would like to know just some general information about baits, hooks to use etc. Im going fishing in Cape Henlopen in Delaware if that helps anyone.
I have all proper saltwater gear (albeit light saltwater gear) to fish with. But im not sure whether to use shrimp or sand flea or something else?
Thanks!

What gear are you bringing?
Clams are great bait for basically anything, though down south they really don't get used too often.
Bunker chunks are great too. Use the heads for striper.

If you go under a bridge use a whole clam and a sand flea to catch drum, drop it right against the bridge pylons

Boat, beach, jetty or pier? A simple circle hook and sinker rig baited with strip squid, Sand Eel, Spearing or a live Snapper Blue will catch Fluke and Weakfish drifting on the boat or from the jetty or pier. Clams or Bunker in the surf will pick up some Stripers and maybe Drum or Skates/Rays.
fish bites or blood worms this time of year a lot of northern kingfish maybe some fluke or snapper blues off beaches and jetties also don't forget to try lead heads with gulp
Sand Worms produce great fishing results.

everything eats shrimp, but ask around the pier or baitshop about what theyre hitting. as for "light rigs",try a pompano rig, drop loop rig or fish finder rig, rule of thumb says use twice strength of your main line-good luck
I read on here don't stick your fingers near their mouths.
