Im sure I miss a lot of bites because I really cant see my line anymore except in perfect conditions. Ive tried clear blue and some stren gold. Im thinking of the power pro spectra hi vis yellow. I throw texas wacky and carolina almost all the times. I enjoy slow fishing, not so much spinners or crankbaits. that jus t makes me tired lol
I know some guys tie right on to hi vis line,, but where I fish mostly is a smaller place and guys throwing everything at them.

Im thinking the hi vis and then a 10 foot leader of mono. Can you give me your opinion on this setup.
thanks in advance
Steve

I can tie a double uni w/ my eyes closed, cause I use it in some crafts I do as well as fishing, Do you think the FG is that much better? Ive tried it from the saltstrong YT and I cant get the hang of it

If you don't have too much slack in your line you probably will feel the fish hitting your offering.

Use floor carbon vs. mono.

thats usually what I go by. Occasionally I will see my line move if the light angle is just right. Just hoping the hi vis will help

Double uni is ok, Since I've learned to tie the fg, I like it better, smaller and stronger

An Albright knot is very smooth when tied correctly, and will slid through with out catching on the top eyelet. After the first 7 wraps, I put 2 wraps around the leader without wrapping the tag end, then finish the knot normally. Cut the tag ends as close as possible, then pull the knot tightly between thumb and forefinger. This will smooth out the tag stub with those 2 extra wraps. Works great for me. I use from 18 " to 7 feet and no problems. Practice the knot, it needs to be tied correctly. It will become neater as you get used to it . Good luck.

Hey Steve, first of all I've been fishing for about 50 years and I have never bought leader line for bass...... you may want to try braided line of a color that you can see easily. Track the line from the rod to the water and keep track of it. I do most of my fishing at night with a variety of lures and I track my line this was, without light. During windy timees, when seeing the line is difficult. Try lures that you need to feel to fish.

I've been fishing for about 70 years now and cannot remember the last time I watched my line for a strike indication. That is what the rod is for, it will tell you if something is messing with your bait. If you cannot feel what you are fishing for thru the rod or if fishing with a rod holder and the tip will not indicate a bite, you are using one that is way too heavy, lighten up. I have mainly used ultra light gear for trout, bass, walleye, snapper, even caught a salmon with it, course there was a lot of luck involved with the salmon. The main thing is I have had a lot of fun with that gear getting some bigger fish in. Lost some, won some but either way it was FUN!! and THAT is what fishing is all about.

Continue watching your line, if the braid helps, use it. Any line movement that you did not cause is an indication of a bite. ( line jump, moving sideways. Moving toward you, vibration on the surface of the water, line suddenly going slack, tip of your rod slightly bending, without feeling it, a mushy feel). Watch the line from the rod to where the line goes into the water. Good luck , watch the line and concentrate.

Im sure I miss a lot of bites because I really can... (show quote)

I use the hi vis yellow and tie right on BUT I run my black magic marker over the last two feet of line, works great!

I'm not sure that it matters whether you use a leader or not. Bass are not big thinkers and most of their feeding habits are instinctive. UNLESS the bass are being pounded hard by people using bright colored line and they are being caught and released over and over I've never seen them bothered by little things like line color. I HAVE noticed that in stained water they seem to find and strike my worms better with the hi-viz line than regular mono. If you think about it, how many real living purple earthworms do you think a bass has ever seen crawling around on the bottom of a lake??? What in the world looks like a spinner or buzz bait that a bass would eat. It is possible that anything that is different and draws the bass' attention might actually be a good thing. I know that a lot of times a red or chartreuse tail on a worm gets more action and there is nothing natural about that either. I think that the bass you might spook off with a hi-viz line will be offset by the ones that you hooked when you saw a tiny line twitch and maybe by the ones tha found your lure because the line caught their atention...
