PVC is good , I wrap rods in bubble wrap to prevent damage ! You have a lot of rods to move , spinners u can rotate so guides are some up some down if there large ! Makes little more room , also I insert conventionals inside spinner guides if large enough saves space !
However the PVC if rods packed correctly bullet proof shipping method !

Are you transporting that many because of NEED, or because it's just nice to have them?

I shipped four rods in a homemade PVC case from eastern Virginia to Baja as stored luggage by flight with two flight changes each way. It worked great.

I am laughing at the ridicule being heaped on the thought of multiple rods. Y'all would definitely be having some grumbling if you go with me. I have rarely gone fishing with less than 3 rods, usually 6-10..... for me alone. Taking friends ? Could be fifteen. Do I use them all each time ? Of course not. But I might be lure-chucking, might want to Powerbait for trout, could see a hatch happening and seeing them rise....throw a fly at 'em.... and that's the FIRST HOUR... without a boat. If I take my boat, there's trolling set-ups ( usually 3 types...big and heavy everything for Lakers, medium-light w/diver for Kokanee, medium-light w/ "Willow leaf" trolling rig trailing a "wedding ring" for trout) AND those mentioned above. (That is 6 minimum...for me....if you're counting) So I guess some might rail on me for excess, but hey, I have very broad shoulders for being 5'6", so bring it on ! You say overkill,.... I say...(being a former Boy Scout)... BE PREPARED !
PS: I have found lightweight nylon golf club bags make great rod transporters for two-piece rods and flyrod tubes. Usually less than $10 @ Goodwill or yard sales. Look for ones w/ the stand-up "legs" that fold out....and hopefully w/ a hood as well. Tight Lines...on ALL THOSE POLES !!?

I put a lot of rods in a PVC tube many times each year ,one end glued with a piece of closed cell foam glued to the inside of the cap before gluing. Measure the longest rod you want to carry , make your tube a few inches longer. Get screw on adaptor for the other end ,more secure than slip on cap, lay your rods on an old sheet butt to tip. Roll up rods with layers of sheet between. Ty the bundle with cordage, enough to keep in place ,slowly insert rod bundle in tube, secure bundle with hand towel, screw on the cap. Put your name on it with magic marker, marks a lot whatever.

Get a carpet tube. Carpet store or carpet layer would probably give you one free. Cut to length and duct tape the ends or come up with your own end idea. Many rods should fit inside if you need to transport that many at one time. Other wise, PVC, size to your needs .

Cut a piece of PVC pipe to what ever length you need. They have 2 different wall thickness so if you can find the thinner it will hold more rods (less reels).
Glue cap on one end and the other end buy a clean out cap. Clean out cap has a screw cap on it to be able to get rods in and out. 4 inch PVC will hold about 6 to 7 rods. Not sure what a 6 inch would hold. No need to wrap interior of PVC with anything. Have been using this type of rod holder for years on 22 hr. trip into Canada and never have had a damaged rod.
