i just left down there a week ago and saw a couple of gents fishing in the surf at the north end of myrtle beach and they said they had been catching some reds and trout the week before! Just my luck they always bite the week before i get there. where i've had my best luck fishing in the surf down in Garden City where the jetties are.
you can also come in from the south side from the Huntington beach state park side. it's close to a mile walk from the parking area to the south jetties. Pier fishing was not doing any good either at the Apache campground pier or the Cherry Grove pier.
