Seems like i'm on a roll today. I'm looking for the most popular and best rod holders. The type that the bracket screws to the hand rail and the rod holder can be removed when not wanted. There are a few that look the same basically but I'm sure some of you have preference especially if you use them often.

Tom, the best rod holder is your hand.

Fly is right. Maybe even between your feet make one more...so you are born with three good rod holders.

If I was dressing out a boat with good equipment I would buy Scotty Brand. Scotty is Heavy Duty in my opinion. There is all sorts of accessories that will work with their receiver type mount and RH. I have seen Fish On brand break off and Fishing Rod and fish go overboard they are not very tough. There is rail mounts you use same base but add an underneath component with 4 bolts. With Rails you can utilize U Bolts too to mount things.

Flyguy, that would depend on one's fishing partner.

I like the Scotty brand myself. West Marine has the same type, but I have the Scotty. Very good quality.

Scotttys are certainly good rod holders. I know several walleye pros that use them and have had them myself. Currently my boat is rigged with Ramrod holders and they seem to work well also.
