Illinois fishing

I live in Illinois and fishing is not great in The Field. I want to go fishing a few more times before it gets too cold. I am in desperate need a of tips and techniques that are most likely to catch me a bass in partly cloudy weather and temps ranging from 40° to 60° in a small pond.

Always wondered, do drop shots work well fishing from the bank or is that more of a boat/kayak thing?

It really depends on the bank you’re fishing from and the available cover for the fish. Some fish are up tight to the bank so you can catch them by casting parallel to shore in shallow water.
You can also try a weightless pre-rigged, weedless worm dragged slowly over the top of the weeds. Good luck!

My solution for Illinois fishing was to move to Florida.

Arkansas works too. White River and Bull Shoals. Other than Lake Michigan there is not much within a 100 miles of Chicago.

Good to see you back on fs and for sure you can't beat the White River system. I was finally able to get to my place below Bull Shoals three trips this fall after being released from my surgeon in September. We did get into some nice trout in fact that is what is for Thanksgiving dinner tomarrow. Hope you were able to try out the White River Rig I told you about. Here are a few good eaters from my last trip.

Hey Parker. You should try the reliable wackey rig with a 4 inch worm or try a ned rig for those colder water bass. Work them real slow. The other good bait this time of year is live minnows under a bobber. I catch a lot of bass on them as the water temps start to drop. Good luck.
