I used to ride out to the Feather River in my buddy Bill's Honda Element towing his Ranger bass boat. It got the job done, but barely, and we'd have been in trouble if we had had to suddenly stop.

The worst danger is trying to stop an overloaded vehicle. The brakes are not designed to stop that much weight.

I t would have been easier AND quicker to WALK into town, buy a hitch kit, assemble and install it than it was to rig this is.
Man, desperation and creativity are sometimes not too far apart!!

If you don’t have a trailer hitch on your vehicle, this is how you do it then

Wonder what the chains were hooked to?

Wrapped around the shocks. I have a Volvo XC60. Great suspension. And of course the chains are only in case something goes wrong with the hitch. Not much chance of that happening.

No hitch.

Redneck trailer hitch!! Gotta love it.

I don’t think even a redneck would do this to a Volvo, well, ... maybe.
A Redneck would probably have put the dolly wheel down too (to keep the hitch from dragging).

Duh, duh and more duh!

I hope that he has really good insurance.
