I have a couple of spinners that I can’t get to spin as well as I’d like them to. Any way to make them spinner a little better?

Also reel faster.

Well I know that. Of course a 4 dollar panther Martin is going to outperform a one dollar Walmart lure.

Unfortunately, this is true. I’ve found that the Walmart and the bass pro shop branded spinners were sub par and had a hard time to get going. I only buy the the Yakima rooster tails and panther Martin’s now

Yakima is definitely my favourite brand for spinners. Blue fox isn’t bad either.

The #3 metallic blue body/silver blade Blue Fox is a very effective steelhead spinner.

The Roostertail is an effective lure once started, unfortunately the willow leaf pattern they use isn't a consistent performer, real light gauge and little blade cup doesn't help. The Clown Coachdog pattern has caught a lot of rainbows for me as has the all black with silk screened silver side panel ones. Their is a similar lure called the Bangtail that spins far more reliably, heavier gauge blade also for more thump. The French blade style Panther Martin spins very reliably, French blades always do. A #6 all brass has caught a lot of smallmouth bass in my area.

Panther Martin and Mepps have always been my go to. It won't hurt to mist them with WD40 and pat them w/a paper towel. They must be clean and in perfect shape to get those early strikes when the bait hits the water and gently falls or when jigging them. You can't just reel 80mph all the time. Buy good ones and take care of them. Also sharpen your hooks!

I have had luck letting them sink a bit then when the line is tight yank on it like your setting the hook and constantly reel from there! Hopefully that helps!

If there is enough wire above the blades bend the wire at an angle. The angle changes the pitch of the lure. This makes the blades spin easier. People do this to musky lures since the heavy blades can hang on even good spinners. I would load a picture but no option to do a pic in comments.

Sometimes you have to bend the blade a little bit to get them to fo what you want

You might try reeling the spinner up to the rod tip top and hang it over the boat seat or window so it catches the wind stream and let it spin for a few miles, works great on Buzz baits also !

Blue fox spinners seem to work the best for me....
