I recently took my 30 month old granddaughter on her first fishing trip knowing how easily she is distracted I unloaded everything out of boat except for 1 bream buster and a dozen minnows with the expectation of taking her to one of my slab crappie holes and getting one on the hook for her well they were stubborn and could only manage a few stragglers over an hour and a half so she was distracted right up until a fingerling bass Maybe 6 inches long got on the hook when I handed her that pole watching her wrestling that little bass for the next 20 seconds was probably the happiest time in my life when she finally got it in the boat by herself she was just shaking with excitement we looked at it and released it truly not a better feeling in life sorry no pics from this trip but there will be in future I know I suck with no pics but I really want to save that for when she does it ALL by herself because that will truly be her first fish

Thanks for sharing the story. Pictures would be cool bit we all get it. It is cool to see a post from you....not me. so we all now it wasn't me... :)

I cant wait until my first Grandkid arrives in 2021. My Daughter is coming by today after Church. It so cool seeing her Prego. We are so excited. The cool thing is her husband and I fish together so hopefully i can inherit a young fishing partner. I think the GK have a whole different respect or relationship than our own kids.

I just took my twin GD's fishing this past spring. They're 10. One had absolutely no interest what so ever and wanted to go home, and the other took to it like a .... well you know. She caught her first fish and acted like it was a big ho hum - nothing to get excited about, I do this all the time. But she sure wanted to go with me next time I got a chance to take her. It's the best, you're right.

Kids and grands make the best fishing partners. Unless you know someone with a boat 😄😄

I started taking my youngest daughter to a trout farm at ~2.5 yrs, first ocean day age 4.
now she is 16, and we still fish together, with an annual big trip to Baja, Panama,Alaska
(though thanks to Covid…...no Panama this year).
She is the only one I enjoy watching catch a fish :)

Hey fellas,
I've tried to post photos from my iphone onto this forum but have not had any success. Btw, I am a computer illiterate. Would someone kindly outline the steps for me to do this? Please make it as simple as possible.
Thanks. Al

Go to your last post and click on edit in the blue type. Look down at the left side below the white square for choose file and click on that. You will get a window that gives you choices of where your pictures are stored. Click that button. Choose the picture you want and do whatever it takes to send it to the stage, usually click DONE . Back at the stage click the button that says add attachment and wait. The picture should load into the white square.

That's ok with no pics. Just reading about her and the excitement she expressed was good for me. Hope you have more good memories with her. 👍

I pretty much can see the reel, but no bail. IL giver er a try. The spinner is the reel of choice for me. I need to hook a heavy weighty one time without the bail to grow a back bone to no having a bail....

the bail doesn't do a thing but pick the line up after your cast and place it on the roller - you can very easily do that with your finger, you practice with it for a little bit and it becomes second nature. seriously, ask OZ, he knows.

Here's a better photo - ain't no bail on that reel and it's so simple a child can do it. And did.
