I am located in southwestern Colorado near small mountain town of Beulah. I have a
chance to go fishing in John Martin Reservoir which is located in Eastern Colorado.
The lake has Walleye, Saugeye, Trout, large and small mouth Bass, Perch, Wiper,
Crappie, Blue Gill and Catfish. I am trying to find out what kind of bait and/or
lures I should use. Thanks

Dan: Which of all those fish you enumerated would you put first on your list? I personally don't have any idea about the first three fish. But, lets assume you were set on Large Mouth Bass, and everything else is second, then that's the way I would select my lures.
For LMB, I would want a couple or three top water lures, such as a frog, a jerk bait, and possibly a spinner bait or two. Then a lipped diving bait, or two; and finally an assortment of worms, rigged either as a Texas Rig or Carolina.
Now, having said all that, if you wish to focus in on another species, then line up your lure selection that way. I suspect, that some of the other fish would possibly be caught. Just Sayin...RJS
Last July we filled our 30 gallon live well with wally's, crappies and white bass. They hit everything from orange crank bait to green jigs. Fish the Dam and rocky areas for crappies and wally's. White bass are all over the place.
