I have been, or I should say my wife has been thinking that we should get a pontoon. Not that I would give up my Lund Tyee, and it would be an addition. How are they to fish out of and how are they to trailer, load and unload. I have a fishing buddy that had one for about a year and I was on it but, never fished out of it. I never talked to him about how he liked it, but he only had it for about a year, so, I assumed he didn't like it. What do you guys think?

I have fished from pontoons and loved it. (Freshwater) Great for bobber fishing bluegills, etc. especially. Never cast from one however, like for musky etc. I think you'd enjoy one😉.

They work great for fishing and trailer just as easy as a boat.

I have wanted a Pontoon full size boat for years. You can fish from them. They might not be much fun in high seas but not many boats are.

My wife and I fish from a SeaEagle 13-14 ft. inflatable pontoon and we love it. It only seats two, but has a motor mount plus oar mounts for rowing. It only takes us 15-20 minutes to set up...including inflation time of 5-10 minutes. it is tough as boot leather and I have yet to have a leak in it after nearly 20 years of ownership. But, according to the ownership guide, it only can handle a gas engine under 5 horsepower and recommends a 2 & 1/2 hp. motor.

Pontoon/Tritoon! It is what's on my list, can't wait , just sold the home in AZ, here we come, Missouri lakes. I don't care what I catch, I just want to go fishing, and well, some hunting also.

I think they catch wind like a sail. Only complaint I have
Would be nice to fish, grill a burger and grab a cold one from the fridge while in the middle of the lake
That Tyee is a sweet rig by the way

If a pontoon is the wife’s idea it can’t possibly be a bad idea

I’m using subliminal messages on my wife about a ranger

Fished for cat fish from one on the lake. Lots of guides use them for cat fish. If you want to use it for salt water check out the deck boats. Its a fiberglass version of a pontoon.

They do catch a little wind, but there really stable to walk around on. As far a comfort I think there about as good as it gets.

I was concerned about trailering it. Boats seem to be cheaper, not sure about pontoons though, down in South Padre island than up here. I may buy one down there and trailer it back. It's a 1600 mile shot, that's a long way. I think it would be fun to cruise around the Laguna Madre with another couple at sunset and a cold one in your hand. If nothing else, I could sell it before we came back. I would probably lose a buck or two on it, but it would be cheaper than renting one.

I don't think the bride would ride in something like that, not big enough. It would work for me though, but this isn't about me.

Another buddy has a tritoon, loves it, but he just cruises the Miss. River and drinks beer off from it. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think that is why the bride wants one. She doesn't fish.

I'll check out the deck boats, I'm not sure what they are.
