I'm not much of a fisherman, but years ago my grandfather mentioned they were gross and had me toss it back.
The reason I'm posting this is because I recently had a talk with my dad about this experience and he said that he doesn't know if they taste good or not, but that my grandpa was possibly being a bit prejudiced... He fought in the korean war and a lot of Asian American settlers at the time would stock the lakes with carp... so it's possible that this is true.
Idk, I'm rambling, but I'm wondering what peoples' opinions are on the fish.

Lots of European countries have carp as a staple. The trick is to kill them shortly after catching and put them on ice. They release histamines if they die slow and warm.

that's interesting. If I ever catch more I'll keep that in mind!

I never liked the taste of carp because it is so fatty, I always preferred to eat trout and zander

I have had a bite of carp fixed all kinds of ways: baked, fried, grilled, bar-b-qued, ect. There is not a way to fix carp that I would eat it. My parents would require us kids to eat some when we caught them.
The trick to eating carp. Get yourself a good size ceder plant. nail the carp to the ceder plank and leave it out in the sun for a few days. Now remove the carp from the plank. Throw away the carp and eat the plank. mighty tasty!
no thanks to the stinky plank
