I got to hand if it to him, he really tried. He checked the boat for dead ducks, he checked my shotgun to make sure it was plugged to three shells, checked my license, and even checked my driver's license to make sure my hunting license matched my driver's license. He said he could write me a ticket for shooting later than thirty minutes after sunset. The ducks don't start coming in until 30 minutes after sunset. Dang! There's no way to legally hunt ducks in Georgia. Darn glad I didn't accidently hit one.

Did he make you take out all your shells out of gun and vest so he could run the magnet on them? Back when I reloaded all my shells even had them open the ends to look at the shot size.
Went swan hunting on Dec. 1 with a friend in his boat. Boat registration expired Nov. 30. fish cop was sitting in his truck when it struck Dave about his registration. Dave hopped on his phone and got it registered before the fish cop came over. I just started prepping boat to go out.
The F&G finally walked over with a ticket all made out. Dave looked at him and showed him his phone with the current valid registration. Dave looked at him and said if he was any kind of a decent human being he would have just walked over when we got there and told us it was expired instead if sitting in his warm truck writing out a ticket which he could not give out - Dave just laughed at him and we went hunting.

There has to be some good ones as well as many good cops. Where would we be without the cops. And I do thank them for all they do.

Dang! The small state park lake that I fish has a no night fishing rule. I make sure I'm off the water by dark.

We have several that I fish and the gates lock themself at 10 pm and open at 6 am. The water is still open for fishing but get your vehicles out of there or you’re stuck.

Very true with the good ones anyway. The bad ones? We could be way better without them.

Talking with a friend last night
She had 1 crappie in the cooler.
Measured it with a tape measure from lower lip ( mouth open ) to tail
Checked legal
Game warden shows up and checks with mouth closed and it’s just shy. Writes citation
Very costly mistake.
Moral. When in doubt , better toss it!

BS on the Warden, should have given a warning after advising the woman on how to legally measure a fish and they wonder why cops are getting shot which I don't approve of. I mean if she/they had taken a limit on undersized crappies then yes ticket them but one fish that measures ok one way but not another, give me a break. Hell, I've caught flounder that just measured the limit and by the time I left the water they had shrunk by 1/4 of an inch which would make them illegal. Mike

In my dealings with Game Wardens I've come to think they are given lessons in "Nastiness". I've never been cited by one but I've been checked fishing and hunting. I got checked after an evening of duck hunting once. I didn't hit a single duck. I now know where the Russians got the idea of hypervelocity cruise missiles. Ducks are FAST. Anyway that game warden was the nastiest human being I ever ran across that wasn't trying to rob me. I just thought the Drill Instructors at Parris Island were nasty. No sense in being like that.

The only people who have more arrest power than Game Wardens are bail bond collector who have no legal restrictions on them.

Game Wardens have more arrest/citations powers than Police, State Police, Federal Deputies, the Coast Guard, the Marines, etc. That's an awful lot of power to allow AN individual to have. Most are really good guys and I know a bunch of them but there is always those who let this go to their heads. Don't believe me, google them. Mike

Oh I believe you. I’ve met a bunch of em. Lots of good ones too though and the good ones have the same opinion I do about the bad ones.

Learned a long time ago never to keep anything that is just at the minimum limit when caught. The bigger the fish the more they shrink. Walleye (15" minimum) will shrink +/- 1/2" in a couple hours, crappie (9") will shrink +/- 1/4" in a couple hours.

Years ago Ohio started a program called "Fish Ohio" where they would send out pins to people that caught a x.xx" long fish for that species. I've seen people catch fish right at the length needed for a fish Ohio and take pictures of it a couple hours later only to find the fish shrank, hence no more pin.

I’ve always believed in shrinkage. Especially when fish are iced down.
Got 3 of those pins myself. Great program.

Yea, I believe in shrinkage also. Remember the Sienfeld episode where George had a problem. Ah, ah......oh never mind I'd rather not think about it.😳
