Blue Crab in East Bay

Here are pictures of Blue Crab from East Bay both in the bucket and on the plate. We live on East Bay and get 1-2 of these daily - great appetizers!! We have also encountered catfish in our crab trap. The cats are too big to get out of the trap and are great on the grill. Our best baits are chicken feet (Chicken Paws at Walmart) or very small fish we catch off the dock.

Is the catfish, hardheads? The crabs look good, the hardheads would be fertilizer.

They were freshwater Blue catfish. The first time I fished off our new dock I put out 3 poles. Within 5 minutes I had cats on all 3 poles between 18-20". Talk about first time luck!!! We grilled them and they were delicious!!

I don't know where you got your info. Saltwater cats are very good eating. Especially Gafetopsail cats. The meat is very white firm and mild. I've been frying and smoking them for years. Oh my If they're poisonous there's members here I've poisoned with them. Try it you'll like it!

Fiyguy - I'm sure you seen some of my post here. Hardhead cats are as good to eat as any cats. If you would like to try smoked cats pm me and I'll mail you a vacuumed sealed sample. I guarantee you will look at them differently if you try them. I have my own marinade I use. I make some hot, some 🔥 hot and some sweet.

Take them over to the finfisher, he will work his magic and send them out to me in California. Delicious. Who told you that?

If you are catching crab I don't believe they were blue cats. Post a photo I'd like to see blue cats out of salt water. I would think they were hard heads. If the water is clear hard heads can have a blue sheen to them.

Delicious. I doubt you could make it too hot for me. I love the heat. Now don't take that as a challenge. Fin's saying "here, hold my beer". You haven't sent me anything yet that I haven't enjoyed thoroughly. Keep up the good work.

Since I got that skunk off my back and the weather's moderating a little I'll be fishing more and I've got a huge pile of cherry wood to smoke with. I'm about ready to grind some peppers to use in my marinade. I'm still gonna use Franks in it too. I'll pm you when I've got some in the mail.
