A fellow from Charleston SC just caught this. It states he thought it was 56” but not! Would have been a new state record if it was - so was stated in the article. Gordon did you show him how to fish??

Think the article said it was officially a 51” muskie. Still my dream of a 50+er.

Yeah they get pretty big. Sounds like they’re not much good for eating but fun to catch. Her in Idaho they have to be over 40” to keep. We’ve got a few places that have them but I’ve never caught one.

Utah is the same 40” and one fish. Cannot keep any on most waters - just CPR.

Are you that's Charleston S.C. and not Charleston W.V. I didn't know we had them here. charleston gazette-mail is W.V. Maybe WVMike taught him

Excellent eating. Most are catch and release but if you want to keep and eat a legal one once in awhile or if it’s hooked in a way you think it may not survive they are excellent on the grill. We wrapped one in tin foil along with a couple pats of butter and a few onions. Some of the best eating I have ever had.

Will have to go read the full thing - know what happens when I assume. Probably wrong state - my old timers disease for not fully reading.

Good to know. We’ve got a couple of lakes around with them in them. I might have to give it a shot some time. I also hear they’re the fish of 10,000 casts. I’m not sure I can cast that many times. Lol. If I don’t smoke the fish I catch I bake them on the grill in tin foil too. Sweet red chili sauce, butter and crushed macadamia nuts. That’s tasty with salmon, steelhead, bass and perch. I’ll bet it would go good on a tiger Muskie too.
