Switch back and forth between bottom fishing, and top fishing?

What should I use if I want to use 1 pole and switch back and forth between bottom fishing, and top fishing?

I fish for catfish, but when there is no catfish, I want to quickly change out lures to fish for bass, instead of cutting my line... what should I do?

Will this idea even work?

I need at least 30lb line. What color should it be? What brand? Wire or nylon?

What kind of swivel do I need to get?

Is there any thing else I should get / or anything else I should know before I try this?

Power Pro braid in green. I strongly recommend just getting used to cutting your line and retying, you'll get better action than trying to use a swivel.

I mean, tying rigs is a part of fishing and always will be, I enjoy the skill of tying knots and it's pretty easy once you've done it a few times, it's as much part of the experience as anything else. I understand if you're physically not able to do so, but if you're just trying to be lazy it's better to take a few extra seconds to tie a decent knot and you'll increase your chances of catching something

Solved the problem your having yrs ago with a "contraption" I call my "bank buddy" What tit consists of s a spring loaded rod holder with a tension adjustment to keep the wind or currant from tripping the trigger. With a catch ratio of close to a 100% I've caught everything from 3" to 4" perch up to 40 + lb cats. While my bank buddy is "loaded & on duty" it allows me to walk the bank working my top water lures. For nite fishing a detachable lite lets you know when you get a hit

Try tying on a small, high quality, all wire snap like a duolock. No swivel. It will also allow your lure to swing more freely than a knot. Did I say small.

Tie a snapswivel on your line. Catfish:run a long (18")leader with drop weight orslip weight on it. Tie hook on one end loop on the other. Place loop on snap. Topwater: remove leader and put lure on snap. I know you get better action tied direct but this is fast & you can change to anything you want. You can tie leader to lure with loop on the other end and put loop onto snap.
