Paloma or improved clinch. Both great knots and easy to tie. Where ya going in Wisconsin. I lived there 72 years on lake Poygan and the Wolf river.
I will be going to our house in Three Lakes, Wisconsin. I have caught mainly Northern Pike, maybe a muskie with the right knot...thank you for your support.

Three Lakes, Eagle River, Minocqua, St Germaine Great area to vacation and fish. Lots of northern pike on Lake Content. Little Arborvitae very good Musky fishing. Lots of lakes in that country. For northern I use 8 or 10 lb mono line with a 6 inch steel leader. My best pike lure is a blue and silver little Cleo. Have fun.
thank you, I will look for a blue and silver little cleo. Thank you. I will be fishing in Spirit Lake. Sitting in the pouring rain fishing, was the best fun I had in a long time...even kept my cigar lit...:)
Jim:)
Palomar or Improved Clinch knot works well for the terminal end of the line
Thank you everyone...I will send pics when i get back with my catch(s). :)

I always tie the palomar, great knot. It is known to break with greater strength than the line you are using. Years ago I had it tested against other knots and it was one that always came out on top.
I use Loop Knot. Its great for fish with teeth. It works with lures and bait.

Palomar is the knot that I use the most. Sometimes Bimini twist on lures. Double Palomar on braid or more twist
One more vote here for a Palomar knot. My wife wanted to fish with me and she doesn't want you to do things for her, she wants you to teach her to do things. I showed her the Palomar knot twice and she ties it herself now with ease. If there's a stronger simpler knot out there I haven't seen it.

Try the Triline knot. There are videos for it on the web. Very easy, and very strong.
I think the trilene knot is the best...I also seen a knot test, and the trilene knot beat the polymer knot 9 out of 10 times....I guess it is mostly personal preference.
