Sorry about all the smoke and fires near you.
We actually had some lightning strike fires start here in the Olympic National Forest but they got them out almost immediately.
The Olympics are considered a rain forest so they are pretty wet most of the time.
It seemed to me that everything up there was wet most of the time.😃

Except Sequim. We’re in a rain shadow. We average 16-20” a year.

It is. Thankfully the mountains get quite a bit more so we get enough to drink once in awhile. And the lakes manage to support a fish or two.

Good morning Graywulff. With only 9” per year how can you tell when you are in a drought? That is not much rain for sure but it is probably easy to plan outdoor events.

So far this year I believe we have had only 3" and March, April, July and August are our wettest months. It's a drought for sure.....

Do you have city water or well? I hope you get some rain soon. You can live without a lot of things but water ain’t one of them

It is from whatever is in the air out there flyguy. Could be smoke or dust or whatever. It has been red here every evening for the last two weeks, rising and setting.

Probably the dust coming from Africa. Mike

I've been in rain storms in Texas as a kid and we were getting bout 6 inches an hour. When it's comin down like that, you couldn't get any wetter if you jumped in the lake. If you just stepped out in it and back in you were soaked.
Never have seen it rain like that out here in Cali. and I've lived out here longer than I did in Texas. Just Sayin.

A cousin in Seattle says that her kids never got sunburned but they did rust.
