Just look in the water and choose something that looks like the minnows swimming around the area your gishing

Now Robert how long do you cook the shrimp ? Do fish like it better when they are orange

Sorry, I never cooked the shrimp. Use either live or fresh dead if I can get them, and frozen if all other choices are gone. When they are frozen they often turn a pale orange color. I am not sure the color matters, it is the smell. I have also had good luck with plastic shrimp tails, like touts. It doesn't hurt to tip the plastic shrimp tail with a small piece of dead shrimp.

I suspect the fish bite when they are hungry and that is more the determining factor than anything else. Just Sayin...RJS
