A scarebear. Never mind the crows. Toto, I don't think we're.....................
Well, you know.
In Texas every year when the high grass comes so do the chiggers. I tried everything man made to home remedies. Anything with deet if you can find it now days was the primary go to, but you might as well slap on a coat of agent orange as well, at quitting time everyone was reaching and scratching ,the next day most were still scratching, except me. On arriving home I'd strip all clothes into washer w/ 1/4 cup bleach, disregard washing tags.
From there with the bleach right into the bath tub Luke warm water and most days a cup does the trick, seen multiple times that two was needed. Fill tub so every inch of you is underwater & include your ears too if fumes water your eyes close em if you don't like the smell get a long straw from MacDonald's. Prepare to stay at least 30 mins, usually 40 or better 45 mins is best. The water will let you know. After feel free to wash with your favorite soap, shampoo & conditioner. If you wake up scratching you'll know it wasn't long enough or you needed more bleach.
My wife mail ordered skin so soft, and it became our crews go to, you smell purdy & it seems to work as long as you reapply every 2-3 hrs. There is another thing that is costly but it is effective every other month go to your doctor and get a B12 shot. What is in surplus in your body is excreted out via your sweat clands and it reacts with your sweat to be a natural detoruant to insects. I have first hand proof of these working.

You are fortunate the B12 works. Apparently it is a hit and miss with different body chemistry.
The best thing I have found is head lice shampoo...use it on entire body let it Stay on for 5min or so then wash off repeat several times. It has always worked we live in the woods

Well, I seem to remember reading some time back that the women's lotion, 'Skin So Soft' worked as a mosquito repellent ! Maybe it'll help
some ? Otherwise, a strong bug repellent with 100% DEET
may be your only recourse !

What's the worst of two evils??? Poisoning yourself or getting eatin alive lol.
I don't know which is worse, but he's right about the DEET; I have used it for 'skeeters, gnats, and horse-/deer- flies while out
fishing ! Those stronger concentrations do work, but
I have sometimes found myself feelingqueasy and nauseous shortly after applying it ! It can certainly have detrimental
effects, so if you've gotten any on your hands, be sure to wash them well before handling any food !

Those things sound worse than Canadian black flies. Yikes!
Yep ! We had 'em in N.H., too !
They were so numerous and annoying that someone made up T-shirts declaring them the 'N.H. State Bird' !

No offense, Mike, but I've seen your picture; there ain't a dryer made (that I know of) that could hold either one of us ! (LOL !)

I think my worst days fishing were when I was careless with bug repellent. I wear gloves when spraying or let my wife handle it. Don’t get it on your fishing gear. Anyone else feel this way?
