I have sinkers that range from .5 to 20 ounces. Bottom fishing in 200 plus feet of water requires some pretty substantial weights.

Railroad spikes work too

We make them out of mono for beach fishing for pompano. Those rigs in the pic have a whole lot of hardware on them.

Yeah Dog ,I've seen people using sash weights from old wood windows on deep drop trips when fishing tile fish. They also used electric reels.

I saved sash weights when remodeling homes just for fishing.

Where do you find those 1/2 pound + stinkers? You make em yourself? I tried that once, but they just didn't come out right.
I probably asked you before, but I'm old and I forget easily (understatement), what kind of a salty chief are you? I'm a retired USN chief. You?

Here in North Florida those weights are available at pretty much any tackle shop. I have some that are 16 oz and even slide on the line. You need them to get the bait down in the Gulf due to the current.
I guess my handle could be confusing. I'm a retired USAF Chief Master Sergeant (equal to a USN Master Chief). Served 30+ years. I use "Salty" cause since I retired I like to spend most of my time in deep water fighting or cussing at the fish.

Well thank you for your service Master Sergeant. I got the cussin part down real good. 21 years for me perfecting the art. Happy to call you shipmate. And after that long in the service, surely you know that USN Master Chief's have no equal?

I would suggest that the scrambled word is ACORN. As far as the rigs, Lord knows...
