Hello everyone, I have a ram 1500 with a 5 1/2 foot bed and im looking to take a road trip to Tennessee with my rods to do some fishing. Currently I have to turn my rods side ways for them to fit in the bed but since ill have cargo, whats the best way to store them with having to lay them on top of everything getting them messed up. My rods top at 7ft. Anyone able to have a fishing rod storage idea? BTW i have a hard top Tonneau cover so i cant mount them sticking up.

PVC type pipe makes good and inexpensive rod cases.

yup and on top of this you can buy pipe hangers in the plumbing section and hang it from the bottom of the cover. I do this without the PVC but you need to get the rubber coated ones or wrap them in tape or they will scratch up your rods. i put my broken down rods on each side and my 7'ers across on the diagonal. I fit likeeee...lets just say enough.

How did you mount the piper hangers? Double sided tape?

oh no way! they have a long extension for hanging. i bent it over 2x to make a U shape and then i zip tied them in position through the holes that are already there (hung from bottom tubes of cover). Its a quick cut to remove them and a quick zip tie to put them back in.

Are the rods one piece or two piece?
Had the same problem. Went to home depot and bought a 10 foot piece of 6 inch diameter pvc drain pipe, (cut it down to 8'6", I have 2 rods over 8 ') and 2 caps. Glued 1 cap on permanently and attach the other cap with duct tape with rods inside. Holds 5-6 saltwater rods. I put a piece of foam in the bottom end for cushioning. Total cost about $10.
