The three fish that Jesus fed to the multitudes were obviously dead. Follow in HIS footsteps!
I was about to say ALONG the same tread line!...Let's give Thanks to the Lord that we R Fishing, that we R Enjoying His Bounty, ...whether we Catch & Release,...or we are Nourishing ourselves with His Bounty....and Thanks for being here in the USA....Enjoying the View, the Bounty, and the Good People....Tight Lines and Take Care Guy's!
Unless your other name is Gollum, Rad.😀
I eat Oyster live! Never heard one complain yet!
Catch and release only ....is simply RATIONALIZED wildlife harrassment ! I will never understand why you would want to fish while never keeping. I don't understand the sport of tarpon fishing (you can't legally even take it out of the water !), bass tournaments, redfish (basically sea CARP, yuk!), I could go on, but you get the idea.
If you are not interested in getting a meal.....why the hell are you doing this ?? Gonna prove that you are the dominant specie ?
Here in Oregon we have an incredible fishery, varied opportunity...rivers, cold creeks, lakes big & small, the ocean....and sooo many regulations about what is kept, what is to be released (adipose fin clipped---keep....fin present? Release.) Size "slots" (sturgeon), you practically have to carry the regulations book on every trip !
I say, fish mainly because it's a great day AND you are hungry (or wish to gift someone ) for the bounty of the water !
Just don't be like my friend Beau, who goes to John Day river every year to C&R small mouth bass to the tune of 60-80 a day ! Whyyyyyy? Seems so mean ! Now THAT would work on my internal angst !
Don't quit fishin', just make sure you are out there for the reasoning that is best for you and your better Angels ! Fish on !....Hook 'n' Cook !
My pleasure is outsmarting the fish (catching) not so much eating. Some species are great for the dinner table, others I don't care for. I also can't eat a bushel of fish a day but sure could catch them. So, why not put them back (unharmed) for the next guy of for tomorrows pleasure? And speaking of regulations, if the states did not regulate fishing there would be a good chance you and I couldn't catch anything. Who thought we could fish the ocean dry. We almost did, just ask the commercial fishermen.
I have been a firm believer in PETA--- People Eating Tasty Animals and I always feel bad right up to the moment I am either taking it off the barbeque or taking them out of the deep fryer !! MMMM Good !!!!
Gotta love all of God's creatures right next to the French Fries and mashed Potatoes .
Speaking of Potatos be careful when you gather them; they have eyes and what they don't see the nearby corn has ears! How the hell did we get onto a cruelty of fish subject? Fish serve their purpose, they get caught, cleaned, cooked and eaten. Of course bears just eat them and anyone that stands in their way.
The most basic law of the universe I know is: Eat or be eaten
Out of curiosity I am asking what difference does it make who kills something for you to eat? The fact remains a living thing died by someone's hand, either yours or someone else's. That also applies to vegetarians as plants are living breathing things that also killed for humans to eat.
Maybe you should stop fishing.....Just saying.
This discussion has gotten way out of hand. No one was discussing the morality of killing anything. Yesterday I killed a chicken and ate it but I did not kill my whole flock. I fish, I eat fish, but, I can't or don't want to eat fish every day but I could fish every day. Hence, I let some return to the water unharmed. Now potatoes have eyes, PETA has gotten on the campaign trail and humans are to eat or be eaten??? I hope my love for fishing never gets this far out of whack.
