Need help with first frog

Hey guys!

My son wants his first frog and I have no idea what to get him (I might get one myself to make him company)

Tried reading some reviews but they seemed very bias.

Please let me know your thoughts (and color choice if possible). We are in south Florida.

Thanks so much!

In South Florida I like to use a white color for frogs and toads. I can't really recommend one brand over another since, for me at least, they all fish similarly.

Use braided line. I use between 40-60lb. I fish in a lot lily pads and need to be able to rip them through also braid doesn't stretch and you want to be able set the hook hard without the line stretching. Also frogs aren't cheap so I'm not trying to lose them.

Spro frogs are pretty good. I myself would look for swamp donkeys by reaction innovations on eBay. They don't make them anymore but they walk the dog better than any other frog I've ever used.

I’ve had the best luck with Live Target frogs in the 2.25” size (they are about $12). These are really good and will last a while if you don’t lose them! In wisconsin, I use dark colors for stained water - black/blue and black/brown.

Booyah Pad Crashers and Poppin Pad Crashers are great frogs on the cheaper end. They walk well but the caveat is they take on water easier and need to be squeezed quite often compared to other frogs. Just get standard Albino white and Night Train(black).

However, I recently tried out the Terminator Walking Frog and so far it's been pretty good. Walks very well and collapses well. A bit more pricy but a good frog.

6 sense Poppin Pickle, it's a poppin frog hints the name, not shaped like your average frog lure with great results.

I have one of those, been had it bout a year, have fished it quite a bit too, have yet to catch a single fish, only had maybe two blowup on it but they missed it so I've never hooked up on a fish with it.

I use the Booyah pad crasher. Less expensive than the rest and they catch fish.
Learn to wait until you feel some weight before you set the hook. It’s tough to remember when the water explodes and your adrenaline is pumping.
