I live in Coden AL,.I usually catch white trout, redfish, black drum, flounder and occasional speckled trout. Using finger mullet bull minnows and live shrimp, occasionally cut bait. But the last 2 weeks I haven't got one single bite in the 4 Places I always have luck fishing.
I don't get it.

DS— Dog days of summer are here, creating a tough bite for some.
A few things you might try are:
Look for main river points like where a creek or pocket meets the main lake or river.
Look for ledges on the main lake or river or in a large creek. ...
Look for humps or underwater islands with deep water close by.

We fish inshore and near offshore reefs when all else fails and weather permits. Good luck and let us know if you find any.

I fish in channels and off jetties. And near a bridge where there are a lot if rocks.. Theres a huge drop off point and that's usually where I catch fish at. But it just hasn't been productive thus year.

Check the solunar tables in your area. Tidal movement is also important.

Yeah I thought it was due to the full moon last week. This week it's been the same ..ill keep trying.. And keep searching. Definitely going to get a fishing journal started

That’s a great idea. I still have my fathers. He saw an article in the Field and Stream back in the early 40’s and started one. Really neat and amazing to see how rods and reels and baits have come along. Many of his baits I still have and some versions of them are still in use today. If you have kids, they’ll love it. I keep one till this day.

i dont know about there id imagine much the same.... but here it is hotter than satans cavern outside and 85-95% humidity... i dont feel like eating either..... just layin round in the shade... check the barometric pressure theirs a point wherein fish are actually nauseated and wont do nothing but meander around their safe place..... this is all true inland, offshore, rivers, creeks and lakes alike....i fish based on how i actually feel,... weather is decent good pressure, heck even a little wind or rain is ok, it feels good to me, usually catch, its blazing, high baro., humidity that will choke a cow,... does not feel good, usually ironically dont catch many fish.... i dont know if its just me and my brain... but thats how i see it.... usually pretty accurate.... good luck out there....

Went to bayou LA batre one of the ship channels ...had no luck off the rocks again. I caught a few mangrove snappers. They didn't start buying until almost dark...i was using live shrimp.. They had almost died off from the heat. I put one on using a popping cork. ..and was easing it back. I let it sit for a minute and seen that bobber twitch. Then again... Then it started slowly easing off. Gave it a second. And wham. The fight was on. I hung into about a 30 lb red. Fought him for about 20 minutes. Got him up to the bank. He went for a final run and popped my line. ...i was saying bad words in mah sleep. Lol. But yeah from the heat tge fish aren't butung much. Early early morning. And right before dark. They are biting.

If you can add a little ice at a time to your live shrimp bucket. It will keep them alive especially in this heat. Bring extra ice in your cooler.

When we’re out in the boat we will add a quarter bag of ice to the live bait well periodically. They will usually last al day.
