I need a little help in locating a particular type of fish basket. I have included a picture from ebay that illustrates the concept. The key is the screw holder that attaches to the boat. I had one years back but it rotted and was thrown away. The net was made out of cotton and was rather long. I was able to merely throw the fish into it rather than trying to deal with a spring-loaded trap door. I have spent hours on ebay, craigslist, and facebook looking for one with no luck; maybe someone here has a suggestion.
Walmart has one just like the pic shows around 12 bucks

Well Hoss: I guess clamping your fish net to the side of your boat is safe enough, as long as you don't take off full throttle and forget to pull it in. I lost a drift sock one time that way.
Now if you are wade fishing in the Gulf, or other salt water, NEVER tie the fish net to your body! Something bigger, meaner and with sharper teeth may want to contest you for the fish you've caught. Gulf fishing waders always slip the attached cord in side a belt loop, but not tied. That way when a big shark decides to take a bite, it will come detatched and you can depart un-bitten, hopefully! i prefer the do net.lots of wade fishermen use them.it's a styrofoam ring with a mesh net bag and a nylon cord to tie it to your wading belt.when i crappie fish i tie off to a pier post or a cleat in the boat. draw string top and easier to get the fish out at the end of the day.

I'd like to follow up on brewertoo's suggestion. Do you have more information; is there a brand name, where to find it on the internet, etc.
academy carries them. mostly used by saltwater fishermen. search do ne.t on ebay
I use a regular basket, but have a steel rod with a very short chain and a snap on it. The rod is bent so that the basket hangs just right and I use a short rope with another snap to hold it against the side of the boat.
