They sell nets on poles to rake them in the surf. Great bait for fluke.

It's a sand flea. They bury themselves in the sand, make great bait for a variety of saltwater fish. They're also good battered and fried. Mike

Here in Oregon we call them mole crabs. Great for catching surf perch. You can catch them easily and they are a great bait provided by sea.

That is the correct scientific name for them. But I go with the flow sand flees. I still like sand crabs, it brings back memories with Dad.

Sand fleas are a different critter meant to bite you, dogs, cats, etc.
