Bass fishing in the summer

Any tips for summertime bass fishing? Been fishing my whole life for everything...except bass. It’s a lot more complicated than I thought! Been having a hard time finding the fish during these hot temps. What I do know though is to go early and fish the shore with cover. What should I look for when the temps start to get more hot? Should I just go in and wait till evening? Lol

Gotta go deeper when it gets warmer. Things like cranks, jigs, drop shots, etc to get ya down around cover or deep and keep trying it out

Thank you for the reply! I think tomorrow I’m gunna try fishing a hump near me I’ll have to get a deeper diving crank bait and maybe some heavier jigs but I’m hoping for some better luck!

Stick to structure too with some jigs/creature baits. Can't be afraid to get right down into it and possibly get stuck

So there’s this section right across from my dock that goes to about 30ft it’s a tree section and there’s hundreds of trees. Do you think that fishing in the middle of that tree section would be good? Using something like a half oz jig? I’m still new to all these different baits so excuse my ignorance

Hard saying but I'd try everything from swim bait to crank to swim jigs to fluke to drop shots to wacky rigs. Just gotta try it all and see what is working that day at that time

And I always thought fishing was so simple! Seems you need a degree today just to figure out what size or type of line, leader, hook, reel, rod, bait, etc. Gotta know if the weather is hot, cold or indifferent, water depth, water temp, kind of cover. Thank goodness for this forum or I'd never have known all this.

Not sure where you live but here in Idaho we fish really early and really late. During the heat of the day they head for deep water and don't bite much at all. When it's cooler they're on the hunt in shallow water in the summer.

Get out as early as you can. The earlier you go out, the better. Bass like to feed early in the morning and late in the evening.

Try ned rigs and wacky rigs with 4&5inch worms bounce them off the bottom and through weeds. Also try some jerk baits and the ever faithful topwaters such as pop r's and tiny torpedo's. You will pick up bass.

I fish for bass at night. The lake I fish is a large impoundment and there are houses with docks all over the lake. I fish mostly the lighted docks but I catch bass around the unlighted docks as well. Navigate by the lights reflecting off the water. As long as you see light reflecting off the water you're safe.

I use KVD 1.0 crankbaits in shad coloring and plastic worms. Junebug has been my most productive color.

Nothing like cruising down the River in a little fishing boat and seeing an ore barge bearing down on you! Also love all the refurbished wooden skiffs that abound in the area. I lived in Prescott, Ontario until I was 5 years old then moved to Jersey.
