I got some difficulties when it comes to choosing the right lures in the right condition so I’m asking for tips.

Paddle tail swimbaits are my go to. Savage Gear line through swimbaits, large spoons with silver, blue, red white or yellow, crankbaits like the Husky Jerk and Shadow Rap, big spinnerbaits or in-line spinners.

Thanks! I have one more question tho, at what depth are you casting? When I watch a tip video, the depth is never mentioned.

It depends on the time of year and the conditions and baits. Right now we are throwing a lot of baits in the 3-6 foot depth range as the back bays warm up faster. In those depths the pike seem to be hitting anywhere in the water column. As the rest of the lake warms up we will start to run over the tops of submerged weed beds that form and along the outside edges or pockets of weed lines. The depth we fish will depend on what conditions we are dealing with and where the pike are suspending, but often we are working around and just above whatever structure or weeds they are relating to

Dont be afraid to throw big baits. Even baits you might think are too big. Last week I caught a 22 inch pike on a 7oz 10 inch Savage Gear shad. We often catch 18-24 inch pike even on baits 8-12 inches long. Big pike will eat whole Muskrats and birds. A buddy was throwing an 8 inch Suick Stick last weekend and a 22 inch walleye hit that big bait.

Joe Bucher Raider Lures.

Always use thick diameter, heavyweight line for topwater fishing to reduce line drag, line sinkage and improve overall buoyancy. A medium/heavy power musky action rod of at least 6 feet also promotes better hooksets. After the cast, retrieve faster initially while simultaneously lifting upwards on your rod tip to lift as much of the line off the water as possible. Then, level off your rod tip angle as the lure nears the boat finishing up with the
rod tip actually touching the water. If the target is muskies, always finish with a figure 8 maneuver at boat side to trigger any followers.

All Shallow Raiders produce action with a straight retrieve or troll, but can also be worked in a jerkbait style fashion with great results when fish are hanging tight to cover. To keep the lure shallower over high weeds, work the Shallow Raider with short jerks and longer pauses. For more lateral, side-to-side action perform the jerk motion with some slack in your line as you jerk the rod top. Also, allow slack during the pause. Slack line
accentuates the side to side action. If you want the lure to travel deeper, lengthen the jerk distance and
reduce the pause time.

Casting: The maximum running depth of the Shallow Raider varies depending upon the diameter of the line you use and the length of your cast or troll. Heavyweight lines and short casts will make the lure run very shallow. Thinner gauge lines and longer casts, will make the Shallow Raider run much deeper.

Trolling: Shallow Raiders perform best at trolling speeds of 1 to 3 mph. The length of line from rod tip to lure determines how deep it will run. Also, run a thicker gauge line if you want the lure to run ultra shallow, but a thin diameter line for more running depth.

The Depth Raider can be cast or trolled for nearly every big game fish. The built-in tail-up buoyancy of this lure allows it to bump into almost any structure with minimal hang-ups.

Pike will eat anything, I've caught them on crankbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits. Hell I just caught 2 Friday on a wacky rigged Powerbait General. I don't look for them, they look for me. LOL

They like to tear up my stuff, that's for sure. The lake I fished today is the 2nd in a chain of 3 on the Housatonic River. The 1st has Pike, the other 2never did. I got bit off 3 times today, and judging by the 2-3 inches of shredded leader some Pike got over the Dam!
