So my old rod... it's a Lew's carbon rod and it's older than the 1 year warranty. I snapped it about a foot out from the tip and so it's lost 3 of the loop holes on the end. I clipped and sanded down the top so it's flush. It feels like a very very fast rod for these 15-20" bass im catching. Should I give up and replace the rod...? I'm still catching fish but it feels, off.

If its not throwing you off and you're still catching fish why not keep it? When its shortfalls cost you a nice fish are you going to be livid and regretful? then chuck it. Depends how seriously you take fishing i guess. My buddy just snapped my 2 favorite rods in his sunroof. While they still will function as a pole to hold line, you lose casting ability, sensitivity and durability. That rod tip functions almost like a bobber. All your info comes from it

Maybe the lack of sensitivity in the rod is what's throwing me off. It feels like I'm fishing with my arms instead of my hands and fingers. But I'm never one to actually blame the rod for a lost fish. How the hell did he lose two rods to his sunroof? Lol

i packed them into his car, tips of the rods at the sunroof. He got in and immediately hit the button to open the roof. pushed them until they snapped.

Rest in peace, rods. At least I only lost the tip of my cheapest rod and its still usable... maybe ill keep it as a back up. It's still 6 ft long but it was a 7' rod.

Oh yeah, the reel is awesome lol. It's a keeper. I can still fish saltwater on the weekends but my freshwater time feels more peaceful to me. Less things to battle like rocks winds and waves. I'll look into a rod repair kit but my uncle decided to snap the rod tip again because he wanted to see how flimsy the tip was. He couldn't believe the tip of the rod is hollow now because his rods have a more solid fiberglass tip.

My wife did something similar. Except it was that the sunroof was open. And she hit close without realizing the top few inches were sticking out of it. Oops. Good thing I am cheap and only had cheap rods.

I snapped a cheap ugly stick near the end. I was able to cut the rod flush at the last good eye. Then cut the rod tip back to where I could slide it inside the rod. Glue it up and it’s a great backup rod. Obviously not the same action, but still works. Zero cost to try.

It should work, you will just catch much shorter fish.
