I used to do pretty good down at Topaz lake for cutthroat trout casting spoons right from shore. Lake Pyramid is pretty good also.

Lake Mead is a good place for bass. I have caught largemouth there, and there is a good population of stripers. They seem to run in cycles depending on the number of shad in the lake.

These 10 Amazing Spots In Nevada Are Perfect To Go Fishing.

Lake Tahoe is my first choice it's the largest alpine lake in the U.S., is located in Washoe, Douglas and Carson City counties. This GORGEOUS lake was formed almost 2 million years ago and contains a wide variety of trout such as brook trout, rainbow trout, golden trout and brown trout.

Lake Mohave is my second choice located on the Colorado River and was formed by Davis Dam. This lake consists of 28,260 acres of water and is filled with various types of fish such as rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, common carp and sunfish.

Lake Mead is my third choice, which is located on the Colorado River about 25 miles southeast of Las Vegas, is the largest man-made lake in the U.S. This BEAUTIFUL lake contains an abundance of fish species such as rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill sunfish, etc. Sadly, Lake Mead's water levels continue to drop because of the current drought, and at the moment it's at its lowest levels since it was built in the 1930s.

Well I believe that about covers it. The rest of the state is a desert. You should tell us where you're at, city and state, and you will get more specific answers. And less comments from the wise asses amonst us. Like me.

"At the moment it is lowest level" I think it has come up from it's low point a couple years ago. I have property in Meadview, where the Colorado River dumps into Lake Mead.

In our neck of the woods Stripers have to be 24" with a bonus permit, otherwise 28". What's the legal size there?

Alright mike. Carson City. Do you live in Nevada or California? If you have a California license, you can drive up Ebbett's pass from Marklieville (if it's open) and fish Highland's Lakes for brook trout. Those lakes are at about 8000 feet, not sure if they're accessible yet or not. Come down a little bit and Lake Alpine is very accessible when it's not snowed in. ? Nice trout in there. Look online at Ebbett's Pass Sporting Goods, Bill the owner can tell you all about that area and what's open and what's not. He's got an email address on his website and he's a great buy, very knowledgeable.
