Multiple fish on one cast and one fishing lure.
Well I hadn't been fishing in about a year-and-a-half because of health issues, mainly. A couple days ago I broke out the kayak and some old fishing gear I had refurbished over the winter. Well I motor over to a little spot on the Saline River and put in at an old ford at the start of a shoals at the end of a deep hole. The water was still fairly high and strong and my shoulder is bad so I didn't go very far upstream and wheeled around in a little backwater eddy so I could throw into the current and here and there. On the 4th throw up against the bank and some logs and snags go
Ka-wham I get a hit. My five foot ultralight St.Croix rod doubled and the Stren Magnathin 6 lb test from 20 years ago was strained to the limit. At first I couldn't see it as it got tangled but then I saw a couple flashes and it look like two and by golly it was. But they were entangled angled in some tree branches as I tugged a couple times I realized I needed to give them slack and maybe they could untangle themselves. And that's what happened. I have about a dozen rods and reels, and that 1000F Sahara Shimano reel is 20 years old, nothing special, the monofilament line is 25 years old I know. The ultralight Rod is the smallest and most expensive that I own. I inherited it from a friend. Way over my budget. And it held up well. It literally bent double and did not quiver. The square bill crankbait is cheap from Wally World but it has oversized hooks that are very sharp.
